The White Home Communications Agency (WHCA), originally often called the White House Signal Detachment (WHSD), was officially shaped by the United States Department of Battle on 25 March 1942 under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The WHSD was created to offer normal and emergency communications requirements in support of the President. The WHSD offered cell radio, teletype, phone and cryptographic aides within the White Home and at Shangri-La, now generally known as Camp David. The mission of the WHSD was to supply a premier communication system that may allow the President to steer the nation effectively no matter his location worldwide, and in any emergency state of affairs. In 1954 WHSD was reorganized and renamed the White Home Military Sign Agency (WHASA ).
