One noticeable change to the Chrome extension is that the emblem has been changed from Google Maps to Google Earth. This is fitting, as a lot of the featured imagery is from the ‘historic imagery’ layer of Google Earth and cannot be present in Google Maps. We did discover that a lot of the imagery may be identified in Google Earth, although the colours typically don’t match exactly. Both they’ve touched up the colors for the Earth View gallery, or they’ve used unique imagery and not what is in Google Earth, which can be colour corrected.
